How to Estimate a Carport
Contractor method for estimating carports: area, material and the foundation slab line.
Carport bids fail on the material and the slab. The area is easy math; wood, steel and aluminum are different price points, and the foundation slab is where the quote grows.

How do you estimate a carport?
Measure the footprint, choose the material (wood $24, steel $15, aluminum $12/sq ft), then add the slab. A 240 sq ft wood carport with slab runs about $7,200.
Measure the footprint
Measure the carport area in sq ft and note the footprint. A single-car carport is roughly 12×20 ft; a double about 24×20 ft. Confirm the slab size before quoting.

Pick the material
