Racking and mounting is a per-panel hardware cost plus mounting labor. The roof type and whether it is roof- or ground-mounted change the per-panel figure.

How do you estimate solar racking and mounting?
Multiply the panel count by a per-panel hardware cost and roof factor, then add mounting labor. 20 panels at $60/panel is $1,200 plus 10 hours of labor at $45 for $1,650.
Count the panels
The panel count drives both hardware and labor. Every panel needs its own feet, rails and clamps.
Set the per-panel cost
A per-panel racking figure covers the mounting hardware. A roof factor adjusts for asphalt, tile, flat or corrugated metal.
