How much ventilation do I need?
The rule of thumb is 1 sq ft of ventilation per 300 sq ft of attic floor, split between intake (soffit) and exhaust (ridge).
Vents or a fan?
Passive vents are cheaper and last forever; powered fans move more air and help in hot climates but use electricity.
Does it need a roofer?
Roof-mounted units should be installed by a roofer to guarantee the flashing stays watertight.
