THE MATH
Drywall cost formula
Total cost = area with waste × (board cost/sq ft + labor/sq ft)The real area grows with cut waste (about 10%). Board cost covers gypsum panels and framing; labor covers hanging, taping and finishing.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
A 500 sq ft room
500 sq ft with 10% waste gives 550 sq ft. At $0.90/sq ft board and $1.20/sq ft labor, the total is about $1,155.
