THE MATH

Solar production formula

kWh/day = (panels × W ÷ 1000) × hours × (1 − loss)

Each panel produces its wattage times the sun hours, corrected for losses (temperature, wiring). Multiply by 30 for the monthly figure.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

20 panels of 400 W, 4.5 sun hours, 20% loss

kWh/day = (20 × 400 ÷ 1000) × 4.5 × 0.8 = 28.8 kWh. Monthly ≈ 864 kWh.
