House framing cost formula
Total = area × (lumber + labor) × stories × designLumber runs ~$8/sq ft and labor ~$6/sq ft. Two stories add 90%. Complex design adds up to 30%.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
2,000 sq ft, 1 story, standard design, lumber $8 + labor $6/sq ft
Rate = $8 + $6 = $14/sq ft. Framing = 2,000 × $14 × 1 × 1.1 = $30,800.
